The Nursery

The Seedlings (The Baby Unit)

The Seedlings class have babies from birth. The seedlings class is a self-contained unit comprising of a large play room, sleep room (including cots), milk kitchen and baby changing area. The babies have their own access to the outdoor space via double doors. The room can take up to 11 babies however, as the ethos of the nursery is to provide a homely environment, the maximum number  of babies we will take is 6. The baby unit is led by Manager Michelle Riley (please see staff bio for more information). The staff within the baby room are qualified and experienced practitioners whom are always based in the room to ensure key bonds are made with your child.

The Baby Unit

Children aged 2 - 5 are separated into 3 classes (called Homebases) according to their age and ability.

1. The Shrubs

The Shrubs class has children aged from 18 months to 2 years.

2. The Willows

The Willow class has children aged from 2 to 3 years

3. The Oak Class

The Oak class has children aged from 3 to 5 years.

Learning Areas

The nursery is open plan and is sectioned into different learning areas across 3 rooms. This prevents the children from being confined to one room all day like most other nurseries. Each class accesses each learning area taking part in a carousel of activities during the day.  The classes access the various areas within their small key groups along with their key-person. The children return to their homebases for free play and planned parts of the day such as registration and story time.

The areas include:

  • Reading area

  • Writing area

  • Literacy area

  • Interactive area

  • Interactive Smart Board area

  • Creative and Messy Play area

  • Mark Making area

  • Design and Technology area

  • Dressing up area

  • Role Play area

  • Small World area

  • Construction area

  • Mathematics area

  • Sensory area

Outdoor Area

All the children have access to the outdoor area at least twice a day. Our outside area includes a large playground covered in shock absorbent flooring, an artificial grass zone, and a nature area with trees, bark, mud kitchen and fairy garden etc.

Sensory Room

We have our very own space inspired sensory room. The sensory room is designed to encourage stimulation by encouraging the children to engage the environment. It engages different areas of the brain, helping the children to absorb and retain more information. The sensory stimulation also improves balance and helps the children fine and gross motor skills. All of the classes have access to the sensory room daily.
